El pasado 15 de febrero Toledo acogió la II Reunión Nacional de Pruebas de Esfuerzo con Consumo de Oxígeno. 300 cardiólogos, rehabilitadores, fisioterapeutas y enfermeros de toda España se han dado cita en este evento inaugurado por el presidente de Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page.

El Dr. Alejandro Berenguel, cardiólogo de HM IMI Toledo y coordinador del Grupo de Ergoespirometría de la Sociedad Española de Cardiología, ha sido uno de los organizadores de esta reunión, que ha abordado casos prácticos y realización de pruebas en directo con pacientes de diferentes patologías. 

Gracias a la ergoespirometría es posible descartar problemas coronarios, valorar arritmias con el ejercicio o comprobar el comportamiento de la tensión arterial. Al paciente se le acopla una mascarilla que mide mediante un analizador de gases la cantidad exacta de oxígeno que está consumiendo el organismo (VO2max), así como la cantidad de dióxido de carbono que está produciendo.

En este Encuentro Nacional el Dr. Berenguel ha presentado su libro: «Comprendiendo la ergometría con gases» que ha realizado junto al Dr. Manuel Abeytua y el Dr. Juan Castillo.
